      The technical term is “Input Device.” Controller is what people use as the common name because you use the device to “control” whats on the screen. A TV Remote is also called a “Television Remote Controller” for this reason.

          Please note that some of the people in the jousou community do in fact identify as x-gender (Japan’s own take on nonbinary identities), and even seen some that later became trans women.
