      Yup. The whole thing is a ruse to get rid of Income Tax in favor of Tariffs, which will essentially act as a national sales tax.

        But income tax is visible and unpopular, plus controlled by Congress.

        Tariffs can be applied at a dictators whim and changed at will, plus are hidden. Half the electorate won’t realize they are paying additional taxes, just blame others for high prices

    Your first mistake was taking a fascist at their word. It’s not about being fiscally responsible, and it never was, even as far back as Reagan. It was always, always about dismantling the government and turning power over to a handful of plutocrats.
