Fuck Bettman. That greesy asshole has ruined the NHL. His stupid green screen ads have made games unwatchable.

I’m not certain these are the same type of ads you’re talking about, but I want to chime in on the too many #$@%ing ads topic. My hockey watching is pretty much limited to Leafs playoff games, although I watch a lot of NBA, MLB, and CFL games - so I know sports broadcasts. Anyway, the ads along the sideboards that ‘fly in’ on NHL TV broadcasts are ridiculous, imo, in how much of a ‘suppression of visual distraction’ (mental effort) it takes to follow the puck and game as a viewer

Those are the ads. They also blur pucks, sticks, and bodies sometimes. And also are super bright so your eyes are drawn away from the play of an already difficult to track sport.

        Fuck Bettman.

Chirping in, it’s probably because you watch the Leafs.

No but for real, I agree. The amount of ads since Covid has increased drastically and it’s so annoying. So many board ads, so many jersey/helmet ads, betting ads are everywhere and it’s just… urgh. I love the sport, but it’s such an horrible league. I’ve been going more to LHJMQ and it’s more fun (local Québec league).

They should put like a blue glowing outline on the puck to make it easier the follow. And, like, make it streak red when someone does a slapped shot to make it more exciting! Subscribe to my channel for more groundbreaking hockey ideas.

I would take the glowing puck back over what they’ve done with flashing banner ads everywhere. At least one attempted to draw your eye toward the play.

“All players, no matter which country they play in, get paid in U.S. dollars,” Bettman told CNBC’s Becky Quick on Squawk Box on Wednesday. “So if the impact of the tariffs is to see the Canadian dollar drop relative to the U.S. dollar, it will make it more difficult and more painful.”

Okay, but we put a tariff on our Canadian labour and we get 25% bonus. Win-con!

Hey, yeah. What happens if you live in the USA, drive to a hockey game in Canada? Are there tarrifs on merchandise? How would the border guards know you bought a puck and a jersy?

Probably since it’s less than a certain amount of dollars, like under 1000$ or 500$, then it’s not considered significant enough? I don’t know frankly and I doubt the American administration knows either since they change things every other day.
