Donald Trump is a troll trying to own the libs and get under our skin. Let’s ignore him and get on with the task of peace, order and good government.

I mean I want to be friends but don’t want you to be 51st state because you’re already Canada… ultimately your choice not us(US). Anyone down for a La Fin du Monde?

The entire premise of this piece is that it happens consensually within the law. Secretary Krasnov-Trump of the 47th Oblast is not known for respecting consent or the law.

The outcome we have to be wary of is forcible annexation. Trump only respects strength, so the right thing to do is to be strong. Trump’s reaction to Ontario’s energy surcharge is proof that we’re on the right track—it’s him whining “no, I’m stronger”. We have to keep showing Canadian strength in response. Not aggressive strength, but a forcible “no” with enough oomph to back it up.

He’s a bully. He’ll give up when we’re no longer fun and hand the file over to someone who will be willing to negotiate. Then when a deal is reached that is almost exactly where we were in December, he’ll claim victory for bringing Canada to heel.

Peace, Order, and Good Government is the right goal. But right now all three of those aims require paying attention to Trump, not ignoring him.

Canada will never be a US state. The US has never dealt with us honestly or fairly, so why would they elevate us to statehood when they can just make us Puerto Rico North™?

We would be subjugated and pillaged. Don’t let anyone fool you into thinking otherwise.

“Elevate” to statehood? Becoming an American, which will never happen, is a massive downgrade. I’ll die before joining the US, which is objectively a pile of shit country lol

You wouldn’t go directly from country status to state. It would be from “country” to “occupied territory”, to “state”. My point is that we’d never leave the occupied territory stage.

It’s also possible that he (or his advisors) see Canada as a vassal state that should adhere more closely to the desires of their overlords in Washington. The technicalities are significant, but putting the right politicians in the right places would achieve their goals equally. It’s not like the USA hasn’t done this before with other countries.

No need to install puppet leaders when Canadians massively voluntarily consume American media.

We should also all collectively as a world, only refer to him as donald. Kill his brand name. Calling him by his last name only enables his brand to remain.

If Canada does become part of the United States, it won’t be as a state. It will be as an occupied territory

Unanimous provincial consent would mean that any slight interest in consideration starts with 10 new states. Guam is not an option, and neither is a single state. I would rather pay North Korea to nuke the Permean bassin, to any of that.

Yeah that’s the only way I could see it working, if all the provinces became individual states. Doesn’t make sense to give up that much political power by only being one state instead of 10
