The last major holdouts in the protest against Reddit’s API pricing relented, abandoning the so-called “John Oliver rules” which only allowed posts featuring the TV host. It's the official end of the battle. The Reddit protest is over, and Reddit won.

      Yeah in a way it was was a win-win. We all find a community we like more. Reddit maintains an enormous user base. I’ve found I no longer care what they do because I like this place better anyway.

    Because when the rubber hit the road, none of the mods were willing to blow up their subreddits.

    They should have made an organized move to other platforms like this one. It would have given them leverage against Reddit

    Toxics stayed with reddit and the best of it came over to Lemmy to help build something better. We won.

      It really shows. TikTok crowd got their creative writing subs to drool and fall over and the “moderate right” can bash minorities and woman in their respective subs.

      The ufo nutters chose to not support the blackout because “ayylmao will be real soon!!!111!”. Same with many handeggball and expensiveshoesbouncyballs subs. Now they are here spamming lemmy’s New feed. I want them to gb2 reddit and stay there.

        I’d actually love some more vibrant sports communities on lemmy, computers/videogames/anarchy/sports/movie nerds are… well have the exact same crossover of interests as me
