That’s a bummer to here.
I went to see The Flash today and it was the best DC film since Wonder Woman. I absolutely loved it. The only complaint I have is that some of the CGI is a big ghoulish, but Michael Keaton getting to be Batman again was absolutely fan-fucking-tastic.
Yeah I thought it was a lot of fun! I agree with the CGI being rough at points, but the movie as a whole was a blast. Also getting to see a Keaton fight scene, as Batman, with modern camera work and choreography… so cool.
As much as I enjoyed it, I want the new DCU to have a clean break from the DCEU, so I’m fine with these movies struggling at the box office if that helps that goal.
I think that’s inevitable.
The DCEU was just so badly mismanaged, there’s almost no choice but to make a clean break and start fresh from a business standpoint.
With that said, I wish they’d shove the cash out for just one more Keaton Batman film. Batman Returns was the first film I ever attended at a midnight showing, and I’d love to have that experience just one more time. (And they’ve already got a stuntman who can pull off the rough bits for him so he doesn’t bust a hip.)
Actually stunning how bad this is doing. With a >70% drop incoming this week, where do you think the final gross is going to land?
Personally I’d say $110m domestic, $256 worldwide. Did a little math comparing it to Black Adam here.
The Flash domestic total now might struggle to pass Quantumania’s 4-day opening weekend of $120m, and will likely not get close to Black Adam’s $393m WW. Rough time over there at WB right now. They NEED James Gunn’s Superman Legacy and the DCU to take off, otherwise I’m not sure what they’re going to do…
