AFAIK they aren’t there yet right? Should the developers of lemmy do it or should it be up to the instances to decide whether to do it or how to implement them?
I think someone will add it to base Lemmy eventually, but I doubt it’s high priority. Might be a while.
I think they will very useful if and when the user base of the bigger instances become big enough, I don’t know how fast we will get there though.
It would be good to settle in for the long haul. Like reddit, things will change over a span of years. And lemmy doesn’t necessarily need to copy everything about reddit, or restrict itself only things reddit already did. And some parts of reddit, I hope never make it into lemmy.
It’s possible to hashtag Lemmy posts. That might be a good stop-gap
Is it? How do you do it, just add a hashtag in the body?
I don’t have anything specifically against flairs, but I wish people would get away from the idea that Lemmy needs to copy every aspect of Reddit.
I agree. Although I’d prefer to see a return of user flairs over content flairs.
I survive without flairs, karma and awards
You can track the issue here:
https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/1456
There is also the issue of post tags
I see the devs aren’t too fond of the idea.

We could just tag them also
What are those flairs?
