No im not sure there is one. I get what you’re saying, but my intention was not to say it’s a mispost, just that it is actually fucking infuriating.

Ask them politely to lower it. If they don’t, you have two options:

    A. Leave your seat to go find a security guard, missing part of the show in the process and potentially having this person fuck with you for the rest of the show in retaliation.

    B. Rip that shit straight out of their hands and toss it to the lower arena. They’ll have no idea who did it because their view was blocked by their umbrella. Don’t have to miss a second of the show.

The poor sobs who got their head smacked with a thrown umbrella wouldn’t know who did it either.

I usually just articulate to them exactly the messed up the thing is that they are doing in a way that they have to aknowlage it. Then they have a choice, they can either say oh, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to do that and fix it. 99% of people don’t like having to aknowlage they are an asshole. They would rather you think they are stupid, not an asshole. OR, they say suck my balls and do it anyway. At that point all options are on the table.

Yeah, I’d rather stay home and watch someone else’s video if my only option is nosebleed seats.

Just be aware that mobile and human sight is kinda different, maybe OP can appreciate the concert more from his own eyes than what we are seeing currently… Also there is the music/sound factor of course.

You may already know this, but this depends on the focal length of the lens. For example, a 50mm focal length on a 35mm camera will represent objects in the background fairly accurately. Larger focal lengths have background compression, making their background look closer than it actually is. Focal lengths below 50mm will have the opposite effect, making backgrounds appear further away.

Some phones with multiple cameras have a 50mm (or similar) effective focal length lens as one of the options. Basically without knowing the focal length of the lens it’s hard to say how accurately the distance of the background is portrayed.

Like you’d see the show anyway. Concerts that big should be like 20 bucks tops. No intimacy, can’t see the performance, dealing with the crowd and traffic. Fuck all that

My view at a concert a few years back. They ended up being escorted out of the building by the police and the whole crowd behind them cheered.

The venue’s security staff kept telling them to sit down. It was 2 guys, being very belligerent and flipping everybody off. They refused to sit down so security came back with cops.

What goes through the mind of people like this? Don’t they realize they are being dicks? Regardless of the weather the thought of using an umbrella in a crowd would never even cross my mind, even less so in a seated venue, wtf?

I would if it’s outdoors and raining, but I’m tall, and I’d hold it up extra high to be sure I wasn’t ruining it for others.

Wait till you encounter people who bring banners. Absolutely obnoxious. At least this guy, dumb and inconsiderate as they are, was trying to use it for practical purposes (rain?). People with banners absolutely know they’re blocking the people behind them and they just don’t care.

I’ve been to a few music festivals with lots of podiums were stand in the open.

My experience is that as soon the show started while it was raining, all umbrellas and other things that could block a view would be taken down by the crowd themselves. Either put something on like a poncho or just get wet.

I always think of the South Park episode that dealt with the Napster piracy when Metallica gets mentioned. Oh no she can only afford the Golfstream 3 without the surround sound with remote control. I get it, but it was amusing.

I’ve never been to a rock concert. I’ve been to plenty of shows in clubs, but never a concert. It always felt like it wouldn’t be worth it unless I paid a ton of money for close up seats. And then I’d go deaf.
