Exodus in general is pretty clear on dudes like Turnip.
First off, the tale of Pharaoh, at least to my mind, has very strong parallels to climate change and the response to the same. The wealthy opress laborers and ignore wave after wave of increasingly improbable environmental anomaly right up until it affects them directly. And even then, they can’t resist reneging on their agreements and going back to their old evil ways the instant they think they’re off the hook.
But exodus also has such pertinent bangers such as:
Whoever kidnaps a person, whether that person has been sold or is still held in possession, shall be put to death.
ICE
You shall not wrong or oppress a resident alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.
Chances are you’re where you are because someone came here from somewhere else at some point and probably displaced someone to be there in the first place, so cool it with the jingoism. And if you are a first generation immigrant, you better remember that shit and not pull the ladder up after you climb it.
You shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the officials, and subverts the cause of those who are in the right.
Maybe don’t accept lavish planes.
And let’s not even get started on the other commandments.
You shall not murder.
You shall not commit adultery
You shall not steal.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, […] or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
Etc. etc.
