The big question mark here, with all of these, is whether the vehicles will be NACS-only or have both ports.
My guess is they’ll have J1772 for L2 charging but not CCS. And just like Tesla, they’ll sell a CCS-to-NACS adapter.
I’d bet they’ll be like Tesla cars. One NACS plug, adapters required to use J1772 or CCS.
Why have a J1772 port? The NACS connector can do Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 charging in the same plug. The standard even supports V2G although Tesla doesn’t utilize it as of yet.
Mainly because there’s an awful lot of public J1772 level 2 infrastructure out there and these companies have been telling people for years to use it…
Sounds like a temporary problem an adapter can fix.
