    I wonder in there are any military coups that ever left their position of power voluntarily

        The difference here is that president was attempting to become an autocrat while the only charges I’ve seen levied against Bazoum are vague mentions of “treason”. I can understand if the president is unpopular that this coup might have quite a few supporters but that’s what elections are for.

      Egypt, 1952 and 2013. Turkey had a few military coups between 1960 and 2000, but they weren’t really successful in establishing a free democracy. Probably others.
