I think Starfield’s main menu is neat. So I made it into a desktop widget. Files (including the stylized logo) here, wallpaper here.

I used the Chakra Petch font (AUR: ttf-chakra-petch) for the menu buttons, and Liberation Sans (with some editing in Inkscape) for the logo.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t eww supposed to run alongside a window manager ? I don’t see anything else on that screen, can you even switch tabs or anything ?

Yes, this is just a bunch of widgets. It’s running inside Hyprland with its own keybindings, and I have a topbar (also eww) that has all of the workspace, system monitor, and eye candy widgets; I just killed it for the screenshot since it’s not relevant to the topic of the Starfield main menu.

I’m pretty sure it would work in other WMs/DEs, and even on X11.

“The start screen of a game can reveal a lot about how rushed the team was and how much pride they took in their work.”

“Starfield’s start screen either shows hasty shipping deadlines by a passionate team overworked, or a team that didn’t care.”

How you dare to make a dope theme for your linux based on this monstrosity? My opnion is a fact btw /s

Okay… but on the other hand, this is my config and your opinion is worthless.

Ah okey, sorry my comment was not meant as insult. I was just showing my “worthless” confusion about your PUBLIC post. Have a great day/night anyway ✌️

No, I will not have a good day and will fight you on this.

What you are doing is the same kind of gatekeeping that the Stallmanites are ridiculed for. You invalidate not just me but everyone who uses a tiling window manager with a focus on mouse interaction - worse yet, your opinion is based on personal customization that has no impact on the ecosystem whatsoever.

Modularity and customizability are core values of Unix-like operating systems. Enforcing your own ideals on others is their antithesis.

I mean, personally I use keyboard and mouse quite frequently. I use window manager to make tasks that are less efficient on mouse (like resizing, snapping, or moving windows) move to keyboard.
