Hey all, starting a dive into steampunk after playing largely in the medieval fantasy pool for campaigns. I’ve homebrewed before and odds are ill homebrew this world as well. Maybe making it a industrialized version of my old worlds. Would love ideas of things to implement and other aspects as well!
Eberron seems like it would be a good source to pull ideas from.
More arcanepunk than steampunk but definitely watch Arcane from Netflix for what a highly industrialized fantasy city would look like.
Something to consider when making a steampunk campaign is that transportation tech (such as trains for example) will shorten travel times significantly, which can have effects on some encounters
Consider healing tech. It sounds weird but a big part of what makes punk of all genres have an impact is the consequences of getting shot. You never see the few people that survive a fight casually walking away. So in thinking of your setting make sure to consider making the players afraid of getting wounded. Healing tech widely available pretty much kills all vibes as far as I see it.
