My local club got back to me on how to watch games online! Apparently an unofficial fan club streams them on YouTube, even though there’s no official livestream / TV by the FA. Honestly amazed and grateful for that given it’s literally a second division Hong Kong team. Granted, it’s probably the most supported HK team, but still.
It’s always great to find out someone’s gone the extra mile. Do they just set up a tripod and upload them after the matches? Sounds like the club at least turns a blind eye, which is awesome to see - I would be so surprised if any MLS club did that. That being said, they’d probably be sued into oblivion by Apple TV.
No, they’re live streaming it, which I assume means there’s probably at least some support lol, given I got the link from the club itself. The sport is big here but the clubs aren’t cuz everyone watches the Premier League (or previously La Liga) so there’s probably enough of an audience for it to be worth it; the videos looked like they had around 500 views each. They even made match highlight videos lol
Link for anyone who wants to join me in supporting what used to be the biggest club in HK: https://www.youtube.com/@SNG130/streams
What a fucking history: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_China_AA
You have yourself a new fan.
Annoyingly they used to be partnered with hotshits LOL but they’re the more “local” club as opposed to our rivals Kitchee which have historically been more of a foreigner’s club and sign more foreigners like most notably Diego Forlan
I’m ethnically Korean so I’m used to having to look past a seemingly automatic affinity for Sp*rs, so no worries there.
I was curious, however, about the name of the Youtube channel, I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what SNG130 was supposed to refer to. I actually had to, no lie, look up who won 4th place in this year’s 1st Division (having seen the team posing with the banner at the end of a recent match) to figure out which team you were actually referring to.
Yeah, I have no idea either LOL, I assume there’s a reason behind it though. South China AA was my club before even Arsenal cuz it was in its prime when I grew up with the Premier League Asia trophy and stuff, so I’m glad to have found a better way to support them.
Also that’s totally my bad on looking up the club lol, I didn’t think about the fact that the YouTube channel was in Chinese XD
I’m glad they have the livestreams too, seems like a great way to grow your fanbase when you’re in a limited market.
It’s all good, I enjoy a bit of sleuthing 🔍
This transfer window has been kind of mad when you think about how many irons are in the fire 2 weeks In:
- Rice (2bids, 90-100m)
- Timber (30m, possible release clause)
- Caicedo (100m?)
- Havertz (65m)
- Lavia (30-40m)
Also now we might sell Partey and Xhaka in the same window??? This is a little mad.
I don’t think we’re signing all 4 midfielders Tbf lol
Really hoping for a positive Ornbomb soon.
Just found out that my account on sh.itjust.works couldn’t see all comments/posts in this community. Some issue with federation sync I guess. Very bad for F5 season. So here I am with a new account on lemmy.world!
Welcome home :)
Getting on a plane soon. Is buying an all day WiFi pass for my flights worth it?
Prolly not; depends on what you’d be using it for IG but in most cases you’ll survive up to a day without wifi lol
Turns out the WiFi was free, so that’s nice haha.
Where are you off to?
The California coastline.
Lovely!
Damn, Tonali to Newcastle. Crazy that.
Arsenal Insider (semi dodgy ITK) reporting Timber deal is done. Make of that what you will.

That was a fast deal if true. I saw somewhere else, kind of dodgy, that he only wanted Arsenal.
I think that any leak of transfer comes from the opposite party/agents. Arteta and Edu try to get things done with as little information leaking as possible. The only one that gets news straight from the club is Ornstein.
Apparently there has been verbal discussion for weeks. I’m guessing that’s why Arsenal leaked the story, to force the negotiation to speed up.
This ITK that predicted Timber more than a week ago says our remaining targets are Rice, Simons and Caicedo (along with Timber).

I’m falling down the ITK rabbit hole.
Sigh I was hoping they wouldn’t announce Gundogan that soon…
This would be the situation West Ham were hoping for. We need to finish up the Rice deal before Man City open their wallet.
@Astrealix don’t mind me, this is a test. Not seeing anything from lemmy on mastodon since yesterday.
(edit) hmm, my reply made it through. Let’s see whether an unfollow/follow fixes it.
Interesting that holdini isn’t popping up as one of the ones on the list to be sold; prolly cuz with Xhaka leaving we need the leadership presence?
