While many have praised the upbeat bops on “The Life of a Showgirl,” others have said the tracks lack the kind of lyricism they have come to expect of Swift.

Ah yes, the “lyricism” of modern-day poet Taylor Swift. Who could forget such classic works as “haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate” and “she wears short skirts, I wear T-shirts”. Shes basically Chaucer and Keats combined, but even better

It seems to me like you just gonna hate hate hate/s

Jokes aside. Yes it is bland repetitive pop and her fans are weirdly parasocial, but with entertainment, I think there is no point in arguing, and one just has to let people enjoy what they enjoy

I take no issue with people enjoying it, I just think complaining that her lyricism is waining is like complaining that water doesnt taste like it used to. Expecting lyrical prowess from someone famous for writing bland pop lyrics is like expecting a zebra not to have stripes

They don’t say she is a good poet, they say that the last album’s texts are worse than they expected according to their previous experience with T.Swift.

Leaving aside the billionaire-bashing, which I wholeheartedly agree with, it is nice to see that such a huge and influential fandom seems to genuinely care about “AI” slop.

Serious question, how does one block Taylor Swift posts from their ‘news’ feed? Shouldn’t this be in the EntertainmentTonight or RegisAndKathyLee communities?

Billionaires are bad not because they’re billionaires but because most of them become billionaires by exploiting the workers.

I don’t think Swift’s money come from underpaid workers

They are bad because they’re billionaires though.

That kind of wealth concentration is disruptive of the entire economy and social structure.

Imagine playing poker with $10 worth of chips against someone with $100,000; the game is rigged in their favor regardless of how they got the money.

Do you have any reason to believe that they get significantly less salary than the median on the market? And that difference is enough to make billions?

You may be shocked to discover that the market median isn’t appropriate and folks who benefit off of it are similarly doing bad to the social contract.

The thing is that the worker’s salary is not in any means proportional to the money earned at the top. Disparity is the problem.

I think Bezos’s ex is an example of how you can become a billionaire ethically. From what I’ve seen she’s been donating a ton of money directly to charities with no strings attached.

Well, I’d actually say it’s unethical that she didn’t take more of his money.

Wasn’t she a large part of amazon before the divorce though? I mean yes I can look at it and see she’s doing far more good with her money than most billionares. But it doesn’t change the fact that the money came from exploited workers. She participated in exploiting billions, and is actually following through on the pledge to give half of it back.
