    Clickbait title.

I still have no idea how The Sims has managed to convince so many artists…

The author doesn’t even question it in their whole article. It’s only about some of the songs with personal remarks scattered throughout the whole text. The way they managed to get the artists is extremely obvious by the way; it’s money. But that isn’t even mentioned.

It’s okay, it’s about songs in Sims language, people probably don’t expect perfect journalistic accuracy on that

That’s my point. I was expecting some interesting anecdotes about how they managed to get some artists on board. And even though that’s what the title implies it will be talking about, it’s not what the article is about.

I like to think that if I ever got famous and didn’t try to figure out how to fade back into obscurity as soon as possible, I’d use the fame for cool things like singing in Simlish, background appearances in movies that sound interesting, just being able to insert my presence in cool and fun things because I’m famous.

If I recall correctly at least one artist said they did this because they liked The Sims; I wonder if they were paid off to say that or if maybe they actually do. Famous people have PR to play to, images to play up to us plebes that they might not actually match in real life, things their PR team or agent or whoever it is tells them to say because it’ll go over well and make them relatable even if it’s not who they really are. But they are still people who probably enjoy things regular people might enjoy like video games or reading or nice days, not just absurd luxuries.
