    In some places in the US, pedestrians legitimately have right of way.

    That means the law is on your side too! The road belongs to you more than the cars! Show them who’s boss!

    This was my mother’s mantra back in the day. She was born in the '20s and even as an old lady, she’d march into the road without looking, telling everyone that the cars would most certainly stop for her. She only came unstuck once in the '70s when she was clipped by a lorry on a zebra crossing. She got away with bruises and her opinion didn’t change.
