Even in the beginning, all I could think was: “please don’t try to overtake that truck, please just don’t”.

    Literal nightmare fuel.

Didn’t know for sure if Lemmy had a flag for that, but if the platform does, yes, NSFL

I don’t think Lemmy does, but if it did, this surely qualifies! It’s horrible!

No gloves. No kevlar. Wearing shorts. Guaranteed those were just regular fucking walking shoes. This guy shouldn’t have a license for pulling that dumb shit, and should be banned from driving for the rest of his life. He’s a danger to everyone around him.

Overtaking in that situation was dumb as fuck. But I don’t know if the driver of the car was just an idiot or did it on purpose. Pause the video before the impact, the car had about half a meter of extra space they could have used to avoid the accident.

The car was in their own lane driving the way they were supposed to be driving. Now they probably have a long bloody dent filled with kibbles on the side of their car.

Yes, but by law everyone has to try and avoid accidents. The car could have easily moved over a tiny bit (while still staying inside the lines!) and fully avoided this.

Of course the biker is at fault, but the accident was avoidable.

You are still assuming the car driver could see the bike.

If you can’t see a bike coming at you in your own lane, you shouldn’t be behind the wheel…

I take it you’ve never had somebody jump out in front of you while driving. Come up with every reason to think that it’s the driver’s fault, but the car is doing what they’re supposed to be doing. All it takes is a split second for someone to make a stupid decision like this. If you’re going to rely on the car to see you, you’re in for a world of hurt like this guy. Don’t ever assume people can see you just because you think they should.

Lol, I was in the exact same situation just at night, with snow and an entire car instead of just a motorcycle suddenly overtaking the truck at 100 kph.

Even so I moved up to the line at the edge of the street and got out without a scratch (or a frontal crash at over 200 kph total). Luckily for me the street was barely wide enough to fit a truck and two cars next to each other, but I had like an inch to spare.

The motorcycle is 100% at fault, but any driver that isn’t a dimwit could have moved over 5 inches and avoided the accident. Check the damn video, there is half a car width of space available to evade and plenty of time to do so.

Bikes can be hard to see, it’s possible the car driver didn’t register what was happening till it was too late
