I couldn’t find a good place to discuss them, so I made one.

    By now, I think they’ve been around long enough that it’s just considered “wave”.

    “Oingo Boingo” comes from an ancient Swahili dialect which means “thinking while dancing”.

    Said Danny Elfman during an interview once. But in another interview I heard him saying it meant something completely different, something about hats.
    Danny Elfman… mischievously unreliable narrator.

    I thought they changed to Boingo a while back. Did they go back to their original names?

      in 1994 the name was shortened to simply Boingo. The band retired after a farewell concert on Halloween 1995, for which they reverted to the name Oingo Boingo

      Originally they were The Mystic Knights Of The Oingo Boingo. A little to big for a marquee
