How unlucky can someone be to have their 3rd (!!!) @googlepixel 6 corrupted by an upgrade ⤵️
1st - Dec. 2023 - died at update - lost data
2nd - May 2025 - battery expanded - needed to be changed
3rd - Dec. 2023 - died at update - might lose all data
Also, while traveling for Christmas to families in Romania and Greece, where Google doesn’t have support / official service! 🫠
I was the strongest advocate for a pixel/android phone, refusing to switch to iPhone, but this was probably the last straw I could handle.
WHY⁉️ I’m looosing it! 😭
I ran a pixel for a few years without issues, but theres not much point to that now that Graphene and Calyx OS have been forcefully obsoleted by Google with the Android 16 restrictions.
Whats it about android16? Ootl.
I actually went to find more specific details from those developers, but it looks like both Graphene and Calyx have managed the hurdle of updating to AOSP Android 16 now and it just took a lot more time than they expected it to. Calyx is still in the middle of an internal restructuring, though, which caused a 4 to 6 month update pause that should be resolved sometime in the next couple of months.
@finitebanjo yeah, it is not fun anymore with all restrictions
@ioana
It seems that @LineageOS managed to build a 23.0 version that can be installed on a device running android 16.
I hope it means it should soon be possible for grapheneOS ans CalyxOS.Ioana, I hope you didn’t lose too much data. It’s backed up somewhere else, not only on Google servers, right?
