Immediately. They prioritize law enforcement types in their recruiting, and a little harmless bigotry is exactly what their looking for. AND they get a hefty singing bonus, which is higher for trained cops.
And they’ll consider his casual racism to be an advantage. It’s like the famous exchange in Alice’s Restaurant, where he tries to get out of the draft by acting crazy:
