Hello fellow Linux gamers! I have the mentioned problem while using a Lutris fullscreen game (Sims 2). This problem is when i use Lutris’ WineGE 8.26 but not when i use the systems Wine 9.0. Sadly my game runs like shit with 9.0. I can’t find anything on the internet regarding this problem, except a 3 year old Reddit post that has no comments. Does anybody know how I can possibly fix this?

WineGE is old and dead. Don’t use that. Some other things:

    • You sure the game is set to Fullscreen and not “Borderless Window”? There’s a big difference.
    • Try to ALT+Tab once in and out of the window to see if it snaps back into focus.
    • Try Wine 10+ instead. Perhaps a regression was fixed
    • Try Proton instead of Wine if using Lutris. Works fine on Deck.

I really think it must be fullscreen, because the game din’t even start when I set a windowed mode preset.

Lutris doesn’t let me install other Wine versions. IDK why. I’m restricted to these two versions. Proton doesn’t even show up in in my configuration even tho I installed it from my package manager.

ALT+Tab really did something. After focusing the game again the taskbar is gone! Thanks for that tip!

Go to “game options” for the specific game, then look under “Wine Prefix”. That should let you point to a specific prefix.

Yeah I know that, that’s what I tried before I made this post. Still can only choose these two versions.
