1080p is the norm for me now and IMO best resolution. 4k is needles big file size wise and don’t see that much of a difference but that might be because most 4k stuff is just upscale.

Said the exact same thing. Adding on to what you said, it’s too sharp and gives the soap opera look. Could be a generational thing. 1080p is peak, especially since many tvs upscale a bit and is perfect.
I think you’re confusing resolution with that AI smoothing bullshit. There are two or three filters that every television uses, if you turn those off and keep the resolution high it looks fantastic. I spend all my holidays turning off smoothing and line doubling at all my relatives televisions
