Sorry, all we can offer you is to be murdered in the streets while the president kidnaps your children to rape.
Yeah? That comment makes you upset? It fucking should! We need to end this shit NOW.
In related news, they released a bunch of Epstein files today! I’m sure it’s all of them, unredacted and unfiltered in any way.
This is a MUCH Better use of my Tax Dollars than keeping my Local VA and Social Security offices Open!
Another executive order: Bread and Circuses!
American democracy is done for (what little was left of it).
This is like a loser trying to show people they have cool friends.
Such utter trash
Shit! He saw that old David Carradine film.
I don’t get why people are getting so upset.
It’s using existing funds, existing roads, and IndyCar is a for-profit league that makes money to fund it.
A circuit around DC could be pretty cool IMO. I’d be happy to watch a race there, just like when Indy carved out a street circuit in my area.
Of course it doesn’t nullify the train of bad stuff the administration has done, but getting upset over innocuous stuff like is exactly what they point to cover the bad.
I’m not upset that they’re making a circuit in DC. That seems neat and I enjoy motorsports.
I’m upset that this will effectively be a tangerine toddler pep rally. It’s amusing that Indycar is being used for said pep rally when ~40% of the grid are international drivers.
Edit: better less word
It has “Hitler bought me lunch” vibes.
It has “while Rome burned” vibes.
Probably the same reason people get upset every time F1 or MotoGP add a new race to the calendar in some authoritarian country in the Middle East, but intensified because this time it’s happening at home and they feel like they have some skin in the game. Yeah, the race itself could be cool as a spectacle, but I’d rather series I enjoy didn’t keep signing up to sportswash the reputation of yet more authoritarian scum.
More like disgusted.
- executive order, wtf?
- distraction from …
- still uses some government funds
This thing definitely isn’t “innocuous”
@return2ozma He’s so fucking stupid.
For anyone who doesn’t know, you can’t run race cars on regular roads. Race cars require a special kind of surface that is never used for regular roads. If you tried it, a lot of people would die in very short order.
Plenty of race leagues run street circuits, including NASCAR, F1, and Indy.
I’ve driven around this one they’re preparing now. It’s a plain old road:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Prix_of_Arlington
Now, what they do is resurface and grade the roads, build infrastructure around the area, and close them off for the races. It’s not trivial, no, but it doesn’t take that long; they could easily pull this off in Washington, in the right spot.
