GOP Rep. Nancy Mace is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for allegedly attempting to profit off of a congressional program intended to defray housing costs for lawmakers’ Washington, DC, residences — a claim she has denied.

According to a newly published report from the Office of Congressional Conduct, the South Carolina Republican sought and was paid roughly $9,500 beyond the actual costs of her residence in DC.

“There is substantial reason to believe that Rep. Mace engaged in improper reimbursement practices,” the nonpartisan watchdog group said in its official referral to the House Ethics Committee. The ethics committee announced Monday it is investigating the matter.

Not a fan of her personally, though I would look out for any hint of retaliation against her given she was one of the 4 Republicans that forced the release of the Epstein files.

I understand they’re just following leadership examples and the time is nigh to just pilfer and pillage any government program. However, can’t you at least restrain yourself a little bit, you’ve already got access to so much info to make stock trading an afternoon side gig taking in millions. Why do you need an extra $10k off the books or in this case very on the books like an idiot. maybe it’s a mistake but damn at least hide the gold bricks in your closet or something.

It’s cute that people still think “ethics” is a thing in this authoritarian fascist regime.
