This Friday at 9:15 p.m. CET, we’ll be hosting a community watch event where we’ll go through the full depositions of Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton that were recently released.

I’m just going to jump in here and say that OP did message me to ask if it was okay to post this beforehand, which I really appreciate.
I’m very happy to have a respectful discourse on why the choice of platform matters, as long as we stay respectful.
Why are you using the probably-compromised, recently-disgraced, Orwellian, privacy-violating Discord for that?
You’re (perhaps unknowingly) potentially exposing each and every person that innocently joins your group to government scrutiny and unjust targeting by the pedophiles that you’re trying to fight against.
Federated, free, open source, and decentralized or GTFO.
Because it’s an easy standard millions already use? Sure the other option is the ethical sustainable option but don’t just ignore how accessible it is for a large amount of people. This project should be about the files, not FOSS, theres a time and a place

I resist Discord the same way that I resist public groups putting their official group chat on Facebook or Twitter or Instagram or TikTok. It’s wrong…and besides, FAR more easily censored/compromised.
In fact, it should be codified into law that private corporations shall not be the sole gatekeepers to public technologies.
Discourage private corporations being used for public information wherever you see it.

They’re not gonna understand why fascist supporting platforms are the worst place to organize against fascism. They don’t even understand that fascists don’t play by the rules.

Any concern building this on discord knowing at any day they could implement face scans and other biometric I’d requirements for the whole site?
Even if you shut the group down when it happens, anyone who doesn’t delete their account would have their ID tied to all activity and accessible to the government.
We have a backup plan for that but also: We are not doing illegal stuff on the discord, the government can get your information with other methods, they don’t need no discord for that.
