Did they do this to ask Iran to allow them passage through the Strait of Hormuz? I think this was one of the conditions that was offered to Arab and European countries.
Well, technically the condition was to expel the israeli and US ambassadors. This is the other way around, and AFAIK withdrawing your own ambassador is considered a less aggressive move than expelling the ambassador of the other country. And either way I strongly doubt they will do anything about their US relationship. So this seems to be just a based thing to do rather than trying to comply with iranian demands
edit: it seems israel already withdrawn their ambassador from Spain last May, so this move now feels completely unrelated to the demands.
The ambassador was summoned back to Spain last September amid a diplomatic row over Spanish measures banning aircraft and ships carrying weapons to Israel from its ports or airspace due to Israel’s military offensive in Gaza, which Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar denounced as antisemitic.
On Tuesday, Spain published an announcement in its official gazette that the ambassador’s position had been terminated. Spain’s Foreign Ministry said its embassy in Tel Aviv will be led by a charge d’affaires for the foreseeable future.
The answer to your question is no. Spain just has very little investment in trade with both Isntreal and US so they have the enviable position to be able to tell both countries neonazi leaders to sod off without significant repercussions.
If they did this to comply with the Islamists for economical purposes, then that’d be some clown show shit lmao.
