I’m depressed after finishing the Three Body Problem series a second time. I love it. Probably my favorite books of all time.

Other things I’ve liked

  • Bobiverse series
  • Hyperion series
  • Project hail Mary

I want to try dune but I’ve heard bad things about the audio book with multiple people reading parts.

Please recommend me something!

Update:

Thank you all for the suggestions! I’m starting Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. And also going to look into Aurora, Ted Chiang, Philip K Dick, and Arthur C Clarke.

I liked the dune audio books all the narrator’s were good and the different voices helps tell characters apart. There’s usually one main narrator as well.

Otherwise it’s hard to find something like 3 body. Mayb children of time or culture. Possibly the Jesus incident by herbert

I loved the children of time series. If you like that, try the Zones of Thought series by Vernor Vinge next

Right now I’m listening to Expeditionary Force series by Craig Alanson, really enjoying it 5 books in! Kind of the same feeling as the Bobiverse imo.

Outland from Dennis. E Taylor was a good listen as well, the sequel Earthside dropped earlier this year.

If you don’t mind the writing be more fun than deep the Omega Force series is great.

If you haven’t done the Expanse yet. That should be your next. I can’t recommend it enough.

I’ll always plug Lois McMaster Bujold’s Vorkosigan series and Iain M. Banks’s Culture series. What do you like about Liu’s trilogy? If it’s human drama and pathos, see Bujold. If it’s “big ideas,” see Banks.
