        My French is still a work in progress, but I look forward to watching some of her classics, plus many others. Getting better and better at reading comprehension and pronunciation, but understanding the spoken language is still elusive…

          french films are relatively easy to watch without full grasp on language for whatever reason. Unlike italian films that pack a lot in the dialogue.

            I tend to agree in general, and it’s fun to catch so many individual words. But ‘faux amis’ can be a real problem, and I prefer to dissect what I’m watching as best as possible.

              German movies from the 70s are the best for that kind of thing. Wenders, Herzog, Fassbinder, Schlondorff - these guys wrote poetry instead of dialogue.
