I finally got the kick I need to go 100% in on Lemmy. I don’t know why I am surprised. At one point they said shadow banning was only ever supposed to be used against bots, but reddit doesn’t care anymore.

I have been banned twice and shadowed banned many times at reddit. And that was before the spez stuff.

I think it was my states subreddits mods causing me trouble I think.

One time I made a comment on a post about nazis in town and said “Let me get my bat”. That got me a permanent ban.

I got permabanned for saying that Donald Trump is incapable of testifying in court without incriminating himself.

I used the phrase ‘give him enough rope to hang himself’. apparently this is advocating violence, or something, or some trumpy mod got his feelies hurt.

Oh, I see. Reddit is real touchy about calls to violence, and many subs have really dumb bots that trigger on key phrases. “Hang himself” probably did it.

Yeah but that’s a standard phrase that has nothing to do with violence, and that’s been around forever.

It has the same meaning as someone who paints themselves into a corner.

The crowd at reddit is losing the cream and it’s just getting lower quality.

I also got banned for calling out someone making a disingenuous argument.

For the most part that’s the whole of society, people in general seem to have become quite shallow in the last 15 years it’s wild to think people have so much to say but nothing to talk about. It makes holding conversations extraordinarily difficult for me to have because i get exhausted being the sole contributor of any substance.

I know I sound like a broken record wearing a tinfoil hat, but I would argue a lot of that is not actually regular everyday people, but astroturfers and conflict bots being used by those who wish to discourage regular people from having conversations, or want to shape a narrative in their own specific direction that benefits just themselves.

If all the regular people could talk to each other and come to agreement on things, imagine the level of power they would have. Those who are in power now would want to discourage that from happening.

If you can’t control the ‘Town Square’ then the next best thing is to destroy it, by polluting it so that no one can use it.

I’m banned from like a hundred different subs. Most I’ve never even been to.

At some point their auto ban bot decided that because I sub to a bunch of subs with ‘porn’ in the title (wordporn, skyporn, food porn etc etc) that not only am I NSFW but that I also deserve to be banned.

Either that or I pissed off one of the mega mods.

I was drifting away from Reddit a few months before the first mass exodus i found a few sites and communities i like. I do say the structure of the fediverse (or lack thereof) is quite refreshing.
