That’s extremely disappointing if that’s true. He’s not that bad. Clubs need to stop fleecing us and we in turn need to stop letting ourselves get fleeced

It’s not that he is a bad player, I just don’t think the league or our tactics suit him. I’ll go to my grave wondering how and why that transfer happened.

I’ll just take the FA cup and ignore everything else tbh

Probably his best run for us. Also when he came off the bench against Wolves a couple of seasons ago.

To be fair, it was Raul who fleeced us there, not any particular club.

Nah I mean the fleecing done right now, not the even more stupid criminal fraud that Raul did.

I think it goes hand in hand. We wouldn’t be nearly so critical if we had paid what Pepe was actually worth i.e. 30-40mil. It wouldn’t be amazing but at least we would feel like we got a good return on that fee.

The way things have ended up, at least we got something - and we aren’t paying his wages anymore…

Can’t clubs throw us like £2m or £3m? They just know how desperate we are to get his salary off the books.

I wish him the best of luck. We still need a left footed back up for Saka. I thought he could be coached to fill in for him but that’s not the case here. Saka needs rest. His game has been off since the start of the season despite the goals and assist. Pepe, in my opinion, would have given a decent amount of offensive threat. We’ll see how Arteta manages Saka’s rests.

Nelson’s gonna play when the cups come. And Vieira can probably play in a pinch. You just don’t not play the best RW in the world though. I doubt we’ll like, ever rotate Saka out in the league.

Saka has played the full 90 too often, in my opinion. We need someone with a smilier profile to sub in for him at around the 65th minute mark against teams like Everton. Pepe is heavily left-footed to a fault but he could give a decent match to Saka’s one-on-one and striking capabilities. Nelson and Vieira are also decent options but, I’d prefer that Arsenal have an outright left-footed RW as Saka’s sub.

That’s not the main concern. Saka burning out is the main concern.

@coygsu I know. I was just being silly since your wrote smilier though I’m pretty sure you meant similar.

I worry about burnout too but it’s a pretty hard sell to make to a top player to say you’ll be back up to Saka when you know that means you won’t play that often. Not many top players will want to do that. So i see the challenge in having a suitable backup for Saka.

I still think Nelson is pretty much as good as we can get for that. And he’s got potential to improve enough to challenge Saka for the spot tbh — though if he gets to that point he might leave to start lol.

@Astrealix agreed. I think his being a hale end boy makes it more palatable to him to be a back up to Saka - doing his part for the good of the club. That’s a unique attribute for someone willing to be a backup to Saka.
