Scooter had the last of his teeth (besides the canines) pulled today. Poor little guy has stomatitis which means he’s allergic to his own tooth enamel. The vet said it was the worst case he’s ever seen but the gums around the teeth that were pulled last time are looking much better, so hopefully this will be the end of his problems.

we adopted a cat who had the same issue - also the worst our vet had seen. but a year on, and completely toothless, she’s got a very healthy, pain free mouth, and is a happy little bundle of fluff. hope scooter’s recovery goes just as smoothly!

Our cat that we adopted had already had a full extraction. He also has a sensitive tummy and the only food that the shelter found worked was some special sensitive hard food. He doesn’t seem to have any problem with the hard food!

Our vet told us that cats don’t really chew their food, they just kind of horf it down and sometimes use their teeth if there’s a big piece of something that they can’t swallow whole. Kibble seems to horf down just fine!

Poor scooter! My Pandora had tooth extraction surgery this year too because she has an autoimmune disorder attacking her teeth. I hope scooter adjusts well to toothless life and is not in pain anymore.
