Subnautica is on sale on the Switch this week, and I’ve been meaning to play it for a while. But I’m not sure if I should just play it on PC instead.If you prefer the form factor of the Switch, go for it. All else being equal, it’s definitely better on PC. (Less buggy, mod tools, better graphics, mouse control…)

Wait how cheap is it on switch rn?
I’d recommend the PC experience in general for any survival game, the speed and accuracy with which you can target the materials you’re collecting just can’t be matched with a controller. It’s honestly frustrating playing survival games on console after experiencing them on PC. That said, if it’s cheap enough I may pick it up for Switch, especially if it supports motion controls.
All these people talking up either PC features or Switch formfactors, and no one’s bringing up Steam Deck…
Highly recommend getting one, then you don’t need to split your library.
Steam Deck is the best. The openness of PC gaming, the handheldness of the Switch.
This is by far my fave feature so far. There is no question, if it’s available on PC I get it on PC
Well I already have a Switch, and Steam Decks are expensive. So, should I spend $20 on a new game, or $600 on a new platform?
While it’s still expensive, you can get the base model Steam Deck for $400 and put in a $50 512GB SSD off of Amazon. The only reason to buy anything other than the $400 model is if money is no concern and you want the etched screen and a premium case. The SSD swap takes like 5 minutes.

They sure can smell an opportunity.The Switch is great for repeat visits and subbin’ on the go, but if it’s your first time, you should really play it on stronger hardware. There are a couple of (key) places where the extra draw distance really matters.
i’ve played on both: the draw distance is very low on switch. aiming is much smoother with a mouse, but piloting the subs are funner with controller imo (you can use both on pc)

Fun fact: Subnautica in VR is the only game in which I’ve actually panicked enough to pull off the headset while playing. Night+Water=Thalassophobia
I genuinely could only play in ten minute chunks for a while because I was just getting way too stressed. And that wasn’t even VR! You have my respect for even trying it.
