Tittle is likely a media interpretation.
Just a guess. But I’ve heard that no one in the marina paid council tax. And that the council was also unclear if they were required to. As someone who has a boat. This is far from uncommon on the waterways. To the point many marinas outright ban residential mooring rather then try to deal with it.
As such. It is much more likely GLA is investigating those questions. Then aiming at ZP directly.
Polanski claimed to the taxman that the boat was his partners, and that he didn’t live there.
His partner let slip on social media that the couple were sad to be leaving the boat as it had been their happy long-term joint full-time home.
Polanski was also a known regular at the laundrette near the marina, which is miles away from the home he claimed to live in.
So there is a credible suspicion of tax fraud on Polanski’s part, and more than enough to launch an investigation.
As to the other users of the marina, it is immaterial their arrangement with the council, as Polanski had claimed a false address as his primary residence. He wants to be a PM, or at least a minister in coalition. He should know better.
Yeah, this is exactly like taking £5m in unaccountable money from a dodgy crypto bro for an unknown quid rpo quo. But notice how silent the media is on that.
More likely, it’s like Rayner’s woes, which were eventually very quietly reported to be a non-issue.

I think people understand this (or at least I hope they do otherwise lol we’re fucked as a country). But they also see stories of Farage or multiple Tories getting away with far worse. So there seems to be an agreement that breaking the law is ok but it depends on the scale as to whether people will take offence over it. At least that’s my reading. I’m probably wrong 😜.

Angela Rayner had to step down last year for a less egregious tax blunder.
And she was later found not to be at fault for that.

Non of your point have any relation to this at all.
His partner was not paying. The council still dose not know if he was required to. As I said. This is a common confusion for boat dwellings. As often councils refuse to provide any services.
Everything else is just. An excuse to validate you opinion. It in no way relates to his legal or moral actions.
God forbid we hold people who want to be prime minister to a high standard.
He is asking the electorate to make him Prime Minister. Don’t minimise the hypocrisy.
And also don’t minimise the hypocrisy of magnifying this minor infraction whilst at the same time ignoring the evil shit that other parties’ leaders get up to.

He was paying council tax on a flat in the same council, nor far from the boat. What he didn’t know was that he had to also pay council tax on the boat. But if he were liable for council tax on the boat, he’d be eligible for council tax relief on the flat, since it wouldn’t be his primary residence.
Just like everyone else would be.
