Is there a way to pause the feed on the main page? I like to sort by active or new and switch to all, but the feed keeps updating so I can never actually read anything. Is there a way to have lemmy pause the feed once it has generated and selectively let me update it?
I am using the web UI, I occasionally use Jerboa but that needs a little work and I haven’t wanted to contribute yet.
This is fixed in the latest release of lemmy that just came out.
Unfortunately the new version also removed captchas, so the admin at lemmy.world is waiting for it to be added back in the next release.
Looks like the restoration of captchas has been merged: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/pull/3249
Here’s hoping for a quick patch release so lemmy.world can upgrade. I’m like real ready to say goodbye to the laundry list of bugs related to the websockets API.
thanks I just read that thread. Sounds like v0.18.1 is gonna fix it and it shouldn’t take too long
Have a link to the thread? I’d love to follow discussion on this.
Edit: The thread is probably https://lemmy.world/post/469761

Took me too long to find it, I need to learn the new syntax for “subreddits” but that entire community is for updates about this server. I went ahead and signed up on patreon. Never done that before but I am loving this community and want to make sure it grows.
On web you can change the page number in the url to 0 and it will pause the updates. I don’t know if other options.
holy crap thank you!
You were very quick XD Thanks for the tip!
Yes, the feed updates are a bit annoying, especially when you are trying to read several posts in new tabs and when you finish and come back the feed is a mess, I wish there was a button or a switch to turn them on and off when you want.
