      i’d assume the same reason why hikers like hammocks, gives you quite good protection from nasty creatures on the ground.

    Weird how huge the stone foundations are compared to the wooden shacks. I have my doubts…

      I don’t know much about traditional architecture in the Philippines, but I would presume that they’re there to ensure that the soil itself doesn’t get washed down the hillside, which would make any structures… difficult to maintain.
