Sorry I didn’t post this yesterday, but it is still the best summary AFAIK about what’s currently going on in Russia.
I say Russia and not Ukraine, because the things that are happening currently in Russia are very dramatic compared to earlier in the war.
The gas lines are of course continuing to be bad, and that will likely only get worse, as Ukraine has announced a 40 day campaign against the oil infrastructure of Russia.
As a result, transportation prices have already skyrocketed, allegedly to 4 times normal prices. The shortage of gas is not only in Crimea, and also in Moscow because of recent attacks around Moscow, which we know Putin is trying to shield from negative effects of the war, but also in almost all of Russia now. It seems the recent attacks by Ukraine have been the infamous straw.

And it’s not only private citizens that can’t get gas, as mentioned transportation is hit very hard too, and although it might not have an immediate effect, farming is nearly brought to a complete halt too!!

Seems to me that if Ukraine can keep this up for another 40 days, it could result in a collapse of Russian economy and society. ( The economy is actually already collapsing ).
We’ve already seen people literally physically fight over gas, and some people slashing the tires of cars ON CAMERA because they think the other part was cheating, while one call to police with video evidence would probably land those people in prison.

This is all insanely embarrassing to Russia, as the main industry of Russia is oil and gas production.
If they can’t keep that going, it’s basically a collapse of their entire economy and infrastructure.

But one of the most obvious examples of the Russian people having crossed a barrier of what they can cope with, is the widespread criticism of Putin on social media and in political circles now. Such criticism is extremely dangerous, because if you go to jail, there’s a good chance you don’t survive! But despite that people are so desperate now that they are complaining anyway.

    Edit PS:
Forgot to mention that prices in Russia have increased by an average of 40+% since the start of the war. And the situation in Russia is now called worse than under the collapse of the Soviet Union by many Russians!!

it’s probably naive to hope putin can be removed without too much collateral damage to the country and people but he does have to go. The shape of Russia post putin appears to be very uncertain…

IDK, my guess is when Putin is finally removed, it will be because there’s an overwhelming desire for it from all sides.
If that’s the case it could be pretty peaceful just as when Gorbachev was replaced.
But I’m not sure that’s preferable for the Russians. But I bet whether peaceful or not it will be great for Ukraine.
For the near future (10 years) Russia is pretty much fucked already.

Anyways, all the people that claim Putin is strong and his positions isn’t in danger, are forgetting that Russia has a clear precedence that it is absolutely possible to replace authoritarian leaders in Russia.

Wait until they notice that there will be no oil for the central heating and diesel to run the cars in Siberia over the winter.
