Stay with me.
I love RED DEAD REDEMPTION. I have beaten both 1 & 2.
I’m not some kind of pacifist. I just get tired of shooting at imaginary people.
So… I thought one day I would get some practice with the sniper rifle killing stray dogs.
Holy shit!
The game threw a fit!
Full on murderous possie immediately.
But here’s what’s worse: the game HID ALL THE DOGS.
So… it just made shooting the dogs more special. Btw— I did this more in 1 than 2.
And I can’t find dogs in GTAV.
Mostly I won’t shoot imaginary people anymore. Just dogs. It’s a thrill.
Maybe you should have kept this one to yourself.
OK Daumer.
Wow. Found the psychopath. Future serial killer vibes for sure.
Is this because I do not like to play games where I shoot imaginary people and prefer imaginary dogs?
It’s probably because you’d rather shoot something that’s 100% innocent and is less powerful than you so it’s easier to kill. Experimenting with torturing and/or killing animals is textbook psychopathic behavior.
jfc. People is a nuanced thing, good and bad, you can play wholly good or wholly evil and there is a balance between them, with internal struggles, especially playing as Arthur who is an outlaw, and the narrative is himself justifying everything he did for one reason or the other, letting you the player decide.
Killing animals is horrendous because they’re truly innocent. There’s really no way around it, no justification. You need to look deep into yourself if you find pleasure in that.
Murder of humans in video games bothers me. Shooting dogs in video games does not.
I told you: this is an unpopular opinion. Prove me wrong.
There’s plenty of computer games where you kill wolves, which are technically a sort of dog, but which is easier to label as a “baddie”.
What everyone fails to acknowledge here is that I have submitted an authentically unpopular opinion.
There are many players of violent video games— GTAV specifically, who don’t care who they shoot or run over. It isn’t really about baddies
What do you want, a medal? Seek therapy.
Wait really?? Is that a thing that’s been coded into the game?
Not really surprising at all.
No different than attacking the Cucco (chickens) in a Legend of Zelda game.

Or the Bovine Defense Force in The Witcher 3 if you kill a bunch of cows.

There is a discussion to be had about how we code the games to fight you for killing animals, while civilization slaughters them by the millions daily. And while killing innocent humans in games usually has few negatives, if any at all. The comment section here probably isn’t the best place for that though.
For sure in RD1. Not quite sure in RD2.
I don’t remember dogs in GTA V but I do remember cats.
Your post reminds me of this scene from Atlanta lol https://youtu.be/EMSrjJngnkY
Exactly.
I got called a psycho by people who think nothing of killing a hundred fake humans because I prefer shooting fake dogs. Whatever.
But I knew I would win the unpopular opinion contest.
I should have an upvote from every dog lover who sees the post.
