    mine had it, when it was a fascist country. we stopped with that creepy bs as soon as the dictator was dead.

    Brazil had it during the 21-years USA-backed military dictatorship. I think it went on for another 8-10 years after that, but then it was removed because it was recognised as a nationalist and fascist practice, incompatible with democratic values.

    The Brazilian Constitution states in its fundamental principles that “all power emanates from the people”. The people don’t owe allegiance to the State, because the State only exists as the will of the people.

    I always found the adversarial relationship between USA people and the Government very strange for a country that likes to position themselves as the pinnacle of democracy.

    This sort of thing kinda fell out of fashion here in Germany after 1945. Wonder why that was?
