      Because it’s a deeply bitter ethnic rivalry between British settlers and Spanish settlers that’s been going on for multiple centuries.

        Ah crap that didn’t propagate properly. I hope it works now.

        EDIT: it seems like propagating embedded videos from mbin to Lemmy is broken. Changed it to a link, it seems to work now.

    I just looked up the Falkland islands on a map. I think Argentina should have them because proximity. What are Falklands like? UK or South American / Argentinian in culture? Seems weird that this would be an argument. Is it so the British have somewhere warm to go in the winter?

    Before anyone says anything about “Well you’re USAin, you have Hawaii”, I don’t think we should.

      They were uninhabited and fought over by the French, English and Spanish. Argentina doesn’t really have any claim to them except that Spain held them for a bit.
