It’s still on the shelf because people can’t afford to buy them.

This reminds me of that time when Fox news tried to say that poor people don’t have it bad because 82% of them have a microwave.

Turns out if you’re a conservative shitbag you can just say stuff and for some reason you’re neither shunned from society nor beaten and left for dead!

A MAGA uncle once told me I was a “whiny unamerican wimp” for complaining about income inequality when he’s I had a television.

Ah, yes, because it’s 1953, and a television costs a years salary, I forgot.

This dude was born in the fucking 70s.

Nah, there is a segment of the American right that truly believes that the poor should live like a Gilded Age beggar. You own nothing, you sleep in a box, and maybe, if you’re lucky, the soup kitchen will have some bread that’s not moldy. I had a coworker tell me I couldn’t be poor because I wasn’t homeless, because “only homeless people are really poor”.

Meanwhile, vandwellers are out there counting up the cash they aren’t spending on rent.

It’s a shame there’s a significant stigma to that lifestyle. The last time I was homeless, I was ready to go that route and save up the money I would’ve spent on rent. However, my girlfriend was terrified of the idea. She found me the place I’m staying in now, which I’m glad for; but the last time my bank account was this low, I was only working part-time. Rent is like a money-vacuum.

Because being a shitbag is the default and expected mode of operation for them. They betray no expectations and break no promises, the system is working as intended.

Given how this whole thing could have been much smaller if doge/47/elon had not dismantled the FDAs monitoring programs, Ive taken to calling this “butt covid” and its their fault.

Not just that, red states have also, side-by-side with the feds, dismantled their own oversight and public safety. This used to be the sort of thing your local Health Department could and would catch and deal with alongside federal HHS, but 40 years of ripping THAT copper out of the walls too means the whole thing folds in on itself when something happens.

They’ll spin it as one of “produce is so abundant and cheap here it’s overflowing the shelves” or “the produce is selling so fast they have to constantly restock the shelves to overflowing”
