Partner decided to go all out on this toasted triple decker sandwich. I really wanted tater tots. We found about half way through that we may experience a little bit of regret, but none were had by the end of it.

Ham, fried egg, smashed avocado, bacon, tomatoes, red onion, lettuce, mayo, mustard on seeded bread.

Poll: Rectangle or triangle? Any particular reason why?

I do triangles because it’s easier to bite a corner without making a much of a mess on both table and my face. Also, mum used to only do rectangles, so when I was old enough to start making my own, they were triangles forever.

    That’ll do.

Personally, I like the rectangle. But my wife mandates triangle.

I don’t really think it’s that important for solids-based sandwiches like this, but for peanut butter and jelly type things triangle reduces the amount of sides you have to constantly check for leakage.

Thank you! And true, yeah! Though I still blindly slice my peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in to triangles. However, I do mostly make them to take on the road, so they stay as one whole piece and put in to a ziploc bag.

Thank you! Same. It also makes it nice to take photos of, too!

Thank you! You know, the first time I’ve ever seen anyone eat a sandwich or burger with a fork and knife was here in regional Australia. Whereabouts are you from? You also say knife and fork, so I’m going to guess you’re not from North America. :) Or at least not from Western Canada.

Angled vs rectangular isn’t an always.

It’s situational and often per sandwich type.

As an example, grilled cheese, particularly with tomato soup, is best triangular because dippage and nibbling.

A Reuben, however, needs to be rectangular in most cases because the pointy ends would be unable to support the bulk of the interior without being made of bread that’s too tough to make a good Reuben in the first place.

Pb&j, triangular because rectangles get your face messier. BLT is bisectual, it can go both ways. Ham on rye is bisectual but leans rectangular for good support.

That’s all true, I hadn’t really thought about it. The sandwiches I make have always been cut in to triangles, but I’ve not made a Reuben before. This, I would have just eaten whatever the restaurant/cafe gave me. The sandwiches my partner eats, he just cuts them in to rectangles no matter what the contents are.

Thanks for bringing all this to the table. Really enjoy your insight.
