Orcas are known to be smart and ruthless hunters. They’ve been observed hunting a variety of prey, with some species, such as whales, larger than themselves. They use a wide range of strategies to hunt and kill prey, but now, in the Gulf of California, researchers have observed one that hasn’t been described before.

In fairness, if any other species watched a video of what we do to other animals, it would garner the same response.
Orcas aren’t scary because they are more cruel than us. Humans just don’t like realizing that we may not be the only ones playing the game
I grew up when Discovery Channel wasn’t bad reality tv shows and it was always about actual nature. We do things on a large scale, but a ton of the animal and insect world is WAY more brutal than humanity. Like, way worse.
Everyone needs to calm down the sunfish was already dead it isn’t like the orcas did this while the sunfish was half alive or semi conscious.
This is just the human equivalent of popping corn or putting stuff in a blender. It’s just processing the food.
I think it was a birthday party, in the ocean. Except the pinata was a fish.

Shit, dawg. Go look at the stuff insects do. Like stab another insect, lay eggs inside, then hatch and larva slowly eat it from the inside out, but they intentionally leave all the vital organs alone so you live as long as possible before they feel like bursting out the side and finally letting it die.

IIRC they’re basically giant bits of cartilege and jelly; like, the vast majority of their body is non-living tissue.
