Some communities will have a deluge of posts, which tend to astroturf the main feed. I loved the feature in Apollo that let us mark a sub as a favorite to make it easy to get to, without subscribing to it and having it hit the main feed.

      Not really. For instance, on Apollo, I used it for /r/politics. Huge, extremely active sub that would drown everything else out in the main feed.

          It was just to put them at the top of your list of subreddits, being able to favourite subs without subscribing to them was a bonus.

    I would love this too, to occasionally see whats going on but not having all of their posts in my feed. Saved data would have to stay with the app since Lemmy dont have that feature
