Oh boy, after 2 …well, that was god awful. The whole thing.

I have issues with the film but, Angela Bassett as Queen Ramonda is excellent. Winston Duke as M’Baku continues to be the best character. And of course introducing Namor. He’s a but underutilized in this film, but I’m super interested in what his character does next.
Never even finished the second one it was so boring, it’s on the long pause
The cgi looked so bad, that at some point I wasn’t quite sure if I was watching some hand cam theater rip or Disney plus.
Ah yes, more of the Wakanda racists who have the science and technology to solve most of the worlds problems but decide not to because reasons.
Mixed feelings about this. Maybe it should be laid to rest with the lead actor. They can reboot it later or something.

No, Black Panther 3 is set to release in 2028. I am saying it probably shouldn’t.
They rebooted Spiderman two or three times in a decade, they have no excuse for trying to milk the Black Panther film like they are.
I’m not sure this counts as milking.
The first Black Panther came out in 2018, and this is due out in 2028, so three Black Panther films in ten years. The character of Black Panther first appeared in 2016 in a supporting role, and last appeared as part of the ensemble in 2019.
So while we might have had a film 2022 called “Black Panther”, it wasn’t about the character of Black Panther. (Sure, Shuri took on the mantle and I don’t want to discount her portrayal, but despite it being a name the title refers to T’Challa.)
So we’re getting a new T’Challa so we can explore that characters stories.
It says 3. It is a continuation of a dead man’s role.
Oh I misunderstood
I was referring to how they’re having his kid take up the mantle, effectively telling a new story within the same universe. Marvel seems to be trying to keep that one universe, and I think fans of the character would rather see more content now than wait a long time
There is nothing “new story” about this. This is a sequel. It’s milking of a cash cow.
It’s a superhero story, so don’t expect Gone with the wind.
But for what they are both Black Panther movies are great imo.Good action, great sci-fi.I think treating superhero films as for simple minded people or for children would definitely explain everything wrong with the industry.
Hey I didn’t say that. The two Black Panther movies deal with some pretty heavy socio-political themes,
- Black Panther - Wakanda is a hidden, restricted ethnostate that comes under a coup by a racial supremacist with fascist imperialst ambitions (i.e. parallels to Israel, and the United States.) T’Challa decides to open the country up to the greater world instead of keeping the status quo (allowing immigration is the way to go as opposed to our current far right fascist immigration crackdown.)
- Wakanda forever - Wakanda’s technological hegemony is challenged by another nation that has equal access to said technology, the parallel between the USA/USSR and Atomic weapons for Vibrainium is obvious. Ultimately Shuri decides to make peace instead of continue the cold war.
So the films aren’t without any intelletcual merit. They just dress these themes with a lot of explosions and asskicking.
