I read somewhere the other day that the average life span for a Russian front line “soldier” is 30 minutes. I used inverted comas becasue I am still of the impression Putin is yet to send his actual, proper army in. They’re all in Moscow protecting him from impending probability of a massive public revolt.
The 30 minute estimate is basically from the time the actual fighting starts. It is really not that crazy. As in time starts when a drone spots the Russian soldier. It then takes time for the FPV drone or whatever to arrive and then actual find the soldier again and attack him. 30minutes for that is realistic. Also it is not life span, but becoming a casulty. So being so insured that you can no longer fight is also an option.
Otherwise this would be insane. The actively fought over front is something like 500km long. Even if you have only a soldier for every km, you would see losses of 24,000 soldiers every day.
Their actual army is fighting and gets killed by thousands, there is no another ‘actual’ army that waits somewhere in the shadows. Protection is done by other branches of the military and non-military.
Iirc, a bunch of security units like OMON and SOBR got sent to Ukraine at beginning of the invasion and predictably got mauled when they met people who could fight back.
Putin’s “real army” is long dead.

Well TBF Russian statistics after EVERY war are pretty grim.
Yes, it can be still hard to believe how rotten and degraded Putin’s army is, and how fast barely trained Moscovian soldiers die on the frontline. But there’s plenty of evidence to it: including reports that Moscovian air defense personnel is highly incompetent. You have probably seen numerous videos pointing to this fact, and many Ruscists wrote about this.
How could this be otherwise, after decades of dedovschina and corruption? And even during WW II, when the army was much stronger, thousands of barely trained people were sent to die in meatwaves, and Moscow was on the verge of evacuation.
That came from US intelligence and so should be treated with skepticism
The 25-30 minute lifespan thing was making the rounds on telegram for a while before anyone from the US mentioned it, and it actually means “average lifespan during an assault” which from some of the videos and Russian warblogger posts I’ve seen, doesn’t seem too crazy especially if it’s all casualties. And tbh a lot of the wounded probably end up as fatalities because there’s no way to extract them from the kill zone.
