I know the Yamm won’t be popular here but there is a good point here that lane filtering reduces traffic and improves safety. If you are in Texas maybe this is something you might want to join in.

    As a rider myself, I think lane splitting or filtering is a terrible idea, specifically in Texas. Texans are some of the most oblivious, most entitled drivers I’ve ever experienced, and until that driving style changes, having some extra lane capabilities just for motorcycles sounds like accidents waiting to happen from drivers who can barely handle the existing rules.

      Those are two different things tho. Splitting is in moving traffic and for sure dangerous. Filtering is just moving to the front in still traffic. Filtering is safer as you cannot get rear ended. Moving to the front also means you are actually moving faster as some red lights are so backed up you can be sitting in them for a few cycles.

        yeah I get that’s what’s really driving it.

        Why the fuck are cyclists so self involved, you gotta have your own tiny internal combustion engine to haul around one fucking person, spewing fumes because there’s no attempt at actual emissions controls, now, you should be able to scoot to the front of every intersection when there’s a light because your safety is more important?

        I get that, and I think in other states with better drivers this could work, but Texans are uniquely horrible drivers. I have driven and ridden in other states, and I have never had to be as defensive as I am in Texas.

        I’m aware that they are two different traffic maneuvers, but I still hold that both are not good ideas in Texas.
