Title. I’ve got an Android phone, wondering if anyone has tried this Connect app. Just heard about it.

I am trying it out now! I like the layout / UI; reminds me of Boost and Joey which I liked a lot. One thing that bothers me is the colour scheme, though. In light mode it’s blue (?) and dark mode is more like some weird grey mode, and I’d prefer it to be a darker grey like in most apps (perhaps it could be more customisable so that people can change it to fit their preferences).

I was using Jerboa but swapped it out to being highly unstable. now trying out Connect, the UI feels more familiar to me (used Boost for Reddit), I am sticking with Connect for now I reckon.

Right now I’m trialing Jerboa, Connect, Lemmy, and Liftoff. Jerboa is frozen for me until lemmy.world updates to 18.1 but I really like it. I like Liftoff and Connect, too, so I’ll keep trying them as they continue to develop and decide down the line which I like best.

So far I’m into Connect, nice modern interface, uses my Material You theming and very close to what I was using before for Reddit. Very solid

I’m using it right now; I was having some issues with Jerboa. the interface is nice, it is a bit choppy when scrolling sometimes, and it did crash when I initially opened it but I’m willing to give it a shot

I’m using Connect for Lemmy. Prefer it over Jerboa overall but I’m unable to add more than one account the moment.

Is there an official community for Connect for Lemmy?

Works really well for me as a basic reader (I only just now made an account). I switched to it after Jerboa started crashing for me, and I’ll probably keep trying new things for a while as everything is still up in the air.

As soon as Sync for Lemmy is released, there’s no need for other apps.

That’s a bit dramatic. Sync for Reddit never had the one feature that I had to try basically every Reddit app to find. Which was the ability to swipe from one post to the next without having to ever to back out. Of course I could be misremembering and sync is one I missed and does have that feature. But I’ll probably periodically try out every app for lemmy until I find one.

I hope it is that great, but to me success will look like several third party apps happily coexisting

What kinda source is that? Is everyone here just installing random apks from random sites?

I have it! I go between that and jerboa. I appreciate the ui a lot. Sometimes I have trouble reading the comments sections, but I’m getting used to it. I’ve emailed the dev actually and he responded quickly and reached out after an update to see if my bugs were fixed.

I say give it a shot

I’m trying it out and like it so far. It still needs work though. There’s a lag when registering upvotes and downvotes. Seems stable and I don’t get as many error messages as Jeroba. Comments and content seems to load faster than Jeroba.

It’s the first and only lemmy app working on my old 2015 android phone.

Great to have backwards compatible options. I also like it :)

Bro. Do yourself a solid and upgrade! You can get a seriously decent phone for next to nothing if you get a flagship phone from 3 years ago. Look at the OnePlus 8T+ it’s like $250 USD right now and it will probably last you 8+ years.

It has a nice interface, modern. But it lack optimization and it looks like it scrolls at 30hz on my 90hz phone, kinda hurts my eyes
