Are there any double walled cups out there that are actually durable? Or maybe super thick glass cups that have a similar effect. I love the look of espresso in a double walled glass but with cats I’m worried they could break.
I got some from Hearth. Don’t know much abt the firm, I got them from a Canadian retailer and they’re really well made.
Which Canadian retailer? I’m Canadian too so I may be able to buy from them instead of ordering on that website. I like their espresso cups.

It looks like a lot of the options they have are out of stock. Maybe they are phasing them out.

The amber ones are significantly thicker and heavier.
That’s a very nice looking glass. It’s funny a different colour is a different weight though. Do you have the amber one too? I’m curious how significant the difference is.
It’s like 20% thicker and 50% heavier. It’s weird. I bought the smokey and amber for gifts. Was shocked at the difference in the amber.
Oh wow, yeah that is weird. Good to know though. Looks like the amber colour is currently out of stock at Cafuné but I’ll keep an eye out for it. I might grab all three colours, I like to have a few glasses anyway and I like all three of them.
I noticed Cafuné also sells the Kruve Propel glasses. Those were the ones I originally had an eye on but thought they were too expensive. But I might consider them as well anyway, I absolutely love their design.
I bought some JoyJolts of off Amazon and they’ve held up superwell for two years.

I tend to check out thrift stores, their stock is more interesting and cheaper than I can find new.
That’s where I got the one in the picture, but I find it hard to find double walled, at least at my local thrift stores. I do continue to look, though.
Bodum’s espresso-sized cups are pretty durable simply because of þeir size. I mean, þey are glass, and probably are going to complain about being dropped onto tile, but I’ve had þem survive drops from a counter onto wood.
I have cups from Kinto, the Kronos espresso cup. I like them a lot.
I’ve dropped them a couple of times (not “cat off the top rope” level, but also not just knocking them over) and they’ve survived.
Those are pretty cool looking. I think I’ve seen them before but didn’t know what they were called. Thanks for giving me their name!
I’m a huge fan of Fellow’s Pirch espresso cups. They’re not double-walled, but they’re thick af, super solid and feel so nice to hold because of how weighty they are. They also come in some pretty colors. I’ll follow up with a picture of mine when I make my morning espresso here in a few minutes

This is the Cortado size in the smoke gray color, the espresso cup would probably be a bit smaller.
Should also mention that I have a cat, and this cup has been knocked off the counter and all it did was put a dent in my wood floors lol

That’s really good to know. My kitchen is tile so it might have a harder time in there but my dining area and living room is vinyl so hopefully it won’t break there. I really like the smoke colour too.
That cup looks a lot bigger than what your scale is suggesting, I’m surprised it’s nearly full with 37.2g. Maybe just a perspective thing? That’s my standard shot size, roughly, so maybe the espresso size would be too small. Thanks for adding the scale for reference, that helps me quite a bit in deciding actually.

Your GCP looks nice, what upgrades have you done to it? I see a Gaggimate, wood steam controller and wood handled portafilter, how do you like those? I want to slowly upgrade mine too, any suggestions? Anything somewhat expensive will probably wait for a while but I’d like to keep those ideas on the back burner anyway.
Thanks! I love my GCP, and have quite a few mods, but I think I’d still be happy even if it was stock.
That being said, aside from the aesthetic wood steam knob and wood handled bottomless portafilter, I also upgraded to the brass boiler, and an articulated cool touch steam wand. The biggest difference of course is the GaggiMate.
Honestly though I’d say if you’re happy with the shots you pull, I wouldn’t change a thing. I had my GCP bone stock for years and loved it just as much as I do now. I just love to tinker with things. Enjoy it and upgrade bit by bit if you feel like you want a little bit more out of a certain aspect of the experience.
The wood steam knob and a bottomless portafilter will probably be the best bang for your buck if you want a good starting point.
I’d mostly want to upgrade for the fun of it, even though I’m already happy with my shots. I’ll take a look at those upgrades you mentioned. How do you like the brass boiler? I’ve heard some people say it’s a huge upgrade, and others say it’s a waste of money and doesn’t change much. Just curious what your experiences are.
