From Audubon Center for Birds of Prey
Sassy screechie alert! This feisty (and cute) fledgling Eastern Screech-Owl arrived in our Raptor Trauma Clinic last month with head trauma and dehydration. It’s unusual to see such a young screech-owl this late in the year, typically the result of late nesting or even a second clutch in the season. He’s recovering well and should be ready to return to the wild very soon - his outspread wings are how he makes himself look bigger, a warning sign to keep our distance!
This is a surprised bird. The pose is immaculate. I love the expression.
He looks like a tough little kid! I’d say he’s got a great owl future ahead. I like them tough and angsty. 😊
He’s gonna be flying thru da the hood being all gangsta
U wot M8?
Back where they are from, I respect they are vicious birds of prey…
…but from my vantage point, it’s like being threatened by a ball of wool socks. 😄
El Screecho ain’t got time for your jive!
He’s gonna bust outta this joint, see.
They ain’t built an aviary that can hold him yet!
